Understanding Your Hoot System
Your Hoot aerobic treatment system is more advanced than a conventional septic tank and requires a bit more attention. When properly maintained, it will outperform conventional septic in every way and protect your property value for decades.
What You Need to Do
- Schedule annual O&M service (required by CA regulation)
- Know your 4 alarm indicators on the control panel
- Do NOT flush wipes, medications, or excessive bleach
- Keep vehicles off the tank area (unless traffic-rated)
- Call us when the alarm sounds — do not ignore it
Homeowner Tips
Do:
- Schedule regular service
- Keep lids secured, but exposed for servicing
- Call us if the alarm sounds
- Spread out laundry and high water use events
Don't:
- Flush Non-Disposal wipes
- Pour grease down drains
- Cover lids with landscaping
- Turn off power to the system
